MOSCOW, Dec 17 (PRIME) -- Russian uranium producer Dalur, part of nuclear power corporation Rosatom’s uranium holding Atomredmetzoloto (ARMZ), plans to launch production of scandium in 2017, a representative for ARMZ told PRIME Thursday.
“According to specialists, (Dalur’s) industrial production may stand at 10 tonnes of the expensive metal per year. At the first stage, the project’s revenue will stand at 130 million rubles, and it may rise fourfold of fivefold later. ARMZ plans to launch production of commercial scandium in 2017,” the representative said.
In November, ARMZ said Dalur launched a pilot unit to accompany production of 400 kilograms of scandium per year at its uranium fields. The company plans to supply scandium nuclear fuel producer TVEL, part of Rosatom.
